So, I actually got the chance to watch an early screener of THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1 and now that the movie's out - I can post my reaction.
WHAT'S THE MOVIE ABOUT?
A cute couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) are driving to another city. Unfortunately their car breaks down in a freaky town and they are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin.
Too quiet for my taste.
Right as Maya and Ryan are about to get their groove on - they hear a knock at the door...and well...from there on - - three masked folks go all crazy on the couple. Yep. All hell breaks loose.
WHAT DID I THINK OF THE MOVIE?
I really, really wanted to like this movie more - - but yeahhhhh. I liked it a little. I'm really hoping with Chapter 2 and 3 around the corner...that this whole trilogy will all come together.
2008's THE STRANGERS is a classic. Man...that movie hits hard.
2018's THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT...I can not lie - I really don't remember that one.
Sorry PREY AT NIGHT.
THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1...for me...it felt like the director was trying to capture the same vibe as the first one - - either he missed it totally or he just didn't take it up a level - - unfortunately the first one was so good...that the bar was set kind of high by the fans.
Am I making sense? π
Like I mentioned before - I really wanted to like this movie more than I did.
It just fell flat for me.
Another bummer for me was the trailer. I just watched the trailer again...just to make sure and yep! They show all the scary, jumpy parts in the freaking trailer. All the goodies!!! Why? π«
Oh and that ending...that cliffhanger?
Did y'all stay after the credits?
Did you see what happens?
Now we have to wait.
Yeah, I really hope Chapter 2 and 3 bring it. PLEASE BRING IT. π PLEASEEEEEEEEE.
Oh and one last thing - whoever was in charge of the marketing of this movie. Great job.
Good stuff y'all. The marketing might be the one thing to save this movie...it just might get enough folks into the theaters.
